Pursuit: Week Three – Rescue
December 16, 2008
Our third week of Pursuit focused on the danger that is found in the Christmas story. Darkness exists and always attempts to put out light. King Herod hears that a child has been born that is to be “King of the Jews.”
Well Herod had to pay a hefty sum to get his title King of the Jews. Not only that, but he constantly had to fight relatives for the position even being overthrown at one point. No wonder he was paranoid. He killed his own sons and wife to protect his position.
We talked about all that Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus went through on their escape and the way they would have lived because of this danger. We can take heart because in the end Jesus was protected, the promise has been kept, and salvation is here.
